In October of 2005, the de Young Museum re-opened in a state-of-the-art new facility that integrates art, architecture, and the natural landscape in one multi-faceted destination that will inspire audiences from around the world. Designed by the renowned Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron and Fong & Chang Architects in San Francisco, the new de Young provides San Francisco with a landmark art museum. The museum’s priceless collections include American art from the 17th through the 21st centuries, contemporary art, international textiles and costumes, art from Central and South America, the Pacific, and Africa. Address: Golden Gate Park, 50 Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive Hours: Tuesday–Sunday, 9:30 am–5:15 pm Directions: Muni #5-Fulton and #21-Hayes stop at 8th and Fulton Streets, just outside of the park. The N-Judah Muni Metro streetcar stops at 9th Ave. and Irving St. Parking is available in the Concourse parking facility. Access to the north entrance is from Fulton St. at 10th Ave. Access to the south entrance is at Concourse Dr. and Martin Luther King Dr. inside the park. Note:
Unless otherwise noted, the Go San Francisco Card is valid for admissions from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm Go San Francisco Card offers unlimited admission to museums, tours and excursions including De Young Museum. |
